Body

Backache is very common, and most adults suffer with it at some point in their lives. It usually improves on its own within a few weeks although for some people it can last longer or keep coming back.

What are the symptoms of backache?

The most common symptoms include a sharp or dull ache happening regardless of whether you are standing, sitting, or lying down. The pain may only come when you are moving in a specific way for example if you are lifting heavy objects, and it can also come on suddenly.

What causes backache?

Back pain can have many different causes, from a simple muscle strain to more serious conditions like a slipped disc or sciatica. It's important to pay attention to your body and speak to our pharmacy team if the pain persists or worsens.

How to treat backache?

Backache often improves on its own within a few weeks. There are some things you can do to help speed up your recovery like staying active, taking anti-inflammatory medicine like ibuprofen, using ice and heat packs, and/or doing exercises and stretches. However, if your pain persists, speak to our pharmacy team for further treatment options.
