What are the symptoms of nappy rash?

A key symptom to look for with nappy rash is your baby experiencing discomfort and irritation in their nappy area. Keep an eye out for red or raw patches, scaly and dry skin, and blisters. If your little one seems uncomfortable or distressed, it may be a symptom of nappy rash.

What causes nappy rash?

Nappy rash can be caused by a variety of factors such as prolonged exposure to wetness, not cleaning the nappy area often enough, friction from the nappy, and/or sensitivity to certain ingredients in baby products.

How to treat nappy rash?

If your baby is experiencing discomfort or may have an infection, there is medication available to help. This may include steroid cream for redness and soreness, antifungal cream for thrush, or antibiotics for bacterial infections. It's important to keep your baby's bottom clean and dry to prevent and treat this common skin condition. Remember to regularly change nappies, use gentle wipes, and allow the skin to air out. If the rash persists or worsens, speak to our pharmacy team for advice and further treatment options.
