One Jab. Lifelong Protection

Body

Most people don’t realise this, but 8 in 10 sexually active people will get Human Papillomavirus (HPV) at some point in their lives. HPV is incredibly common, and while it’s usually harmless, certain strains can cause serious health issues later on, like cervical, anal, or other cancers.

The good news? You can protect yourself by getting the HPV vaccine. It's quick, effective, and sets you up for long-term peace of mind.

What does the HPV vaccine do?

The HPV vaccine is like giving your immune system the ability to recognise the virus, so it knows how to fight off high-risk HPV types before they cause serious harm.

The vaccine works best if you get it before exposure to the virus, which is why it’s recommended for young adults, especially teens and pre-teens. But don’t worry, if you’re already sexually active, it’s still worth getting vaccinated because it can protect you from HPV strains you haven’t been exposed to yet.

Can international students get the HPV vaccine?

Absolutely! International students are fully eligible to get the HPV vaccine. Many clinics and pharmacies make it quick and convenient to protect your health while studying abroad. We’re always here to help, you can check with our pharmacy about vaccine doses, pricing, and how to schedule your appointment.

How many doses of the HPV vaccine do I need?

The HPV vaccine is usually given in three doses over a period of six months for adults aged 15 years and older. Completing all doses is essential for full protection, so if you’ve already started the series, make sure to finish it. If you’re starting from scratch, don’t worry, we’ll help you stay on track.

Is the HPV vaccine safe?

Yes! The HPV vaccine has been carefully studied and is one of the safest vaccines in use today. Millions of people around the world have already received it, and it’s been approved by leading health organisations like the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Side effects are usually mild and may include some soreness at the injection site, feeling tired, or a low-grade fever, but these go away quickly. Keeping yourself protected against HPV-related cancers and diseases is worth it!

Remember to drink plenty of water a take suitable painkiller if necessary.

What are the symptoms of HPV?

HPV often has no symptoms, which means people may not know they have it. This makes it easy to pass on to others.

Some types of HPV cause genital warts, small growths around the genital area. Others may lead to cell changes that can develop into cancer over time.
