The Common Ailments Service in Wales, funded by NHS Wales, makes your local pharmacy your first stop for expert advice and treatment for minor illnesses, eliminating the need to see your GP.
A range of common conditions are covered by this service including acne, headlice, cold sores, haemorrhoids, and sore throats.

You can receive advice and treatment for the health conditions applicable at pharmacies across Wales if you are staying in Wales for at least 24 hours after visiting our pharmacy.
There may be times when our pharmacist will recommend that you see your GP for further help. If something feels very wrong, then you should either call 111 or 999.
Pharmacists are qualified to provide advice, carry out the necessary treatment, and prescribe medication when necessary. If you require further advice and more treatment, then your pharmacist will point you in the direction of your GP.
The Common Ailments Service was created as a convenient alternative to seeing your GP for common ailments to save time and give you more access to the health services you need. GPs are still able to see you regarding any of your concerns but waiting times may be longer.
We understand that it can be difficult to find time to visit your pharmacy when you work a full-time job, this is why some of our pharmacies are open later, and on Saturdays.
